The Hobbit Given Green Light
New Zealand's tourism trade has been given a boost after it was confirmed that two films based on JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit will be made in the country. Production was given teh nod of approval after lenghty talks between Hollywood executives and the New Zealand government. New Zealand witnessed a tourism boom as a result of The Lord of the Rings trilogy being shot in the country.

However, a marketing deal agreed between the government and Warner Bros rescued the situation.Delays in the production of The Hobbit will hit theatres in two installments in December 2012 and 2013. New Zealander Jackson shot the three films in a number of locations around New Zealand.
