Starting On A Music Career
If you are reading this article than you might be wanting to learn a little more about how to really rock. If you are in a band, or want to learn how to play music, than it really takes a bit of consideration on a few different factors to really make it happen. Success can be achieved if you take all of this into consideration.
All of the factors and areas of focus that are going to be listed in the upcoming paragraphs are equally important to one another. You have to establish yourself in every factor that will be listed, if you really intend to bring your music to the national or even international stage.
I suppose one of the first things that you should consider is the genre of music that you intend to end up playing. This is not always the type of music that you like to listen to, although that is often a good place to start. There are several different factors that can play into your choice, but once you decide you have to work to make that genre your own. Sound like no one has sounded.
Just like a truck driver needs a decent truck to make his deliveries, a musician needs a good instrument to make good music. You see, you have to invest in this aspect of your craft, because if you go low end, your sound will too. If you are playing acoustics, you should check out an Alvarez or a Takamine acoustic guitar. Electrics are leaned more towards Fender and Ibanez. These are not the very best, but they are quality that will really improve your sound.
So you establish your genre, you get a nice dreadnought acoustic guitar, and now you start to figure out how to get your music out to the people that need to hear it. I would like to caution you to avoid contacting record labels on your own, as they rarely accept materials from artists themselves. You should send off some materials to a management group, and let them take care of it for you.
This really starts with making a quality press kit. A press kit is a grouping of information that a label might want to know about you or your band. These typically consist of photographs of live performances and still shots, a biography and some tracks that your group has recorded. If you are including video footage, it should be in DVD format. You might consider making it so that it can be viewed on a graphic LCD HDTV screen if you are really ambitious.
So this might be sound advice to getting the ball rolling on a serious music career. You see, there is no one standing in the way of your success but you, so just let it happen. Work hard and make calculated and informed decisions concerning your music.
